When I ran the game all I got was my desktop. I could here the game music, but the window would not show. It changed my screen res, but no window. I have quite a bit open at the moment, so maybe something else is conflicting with it. I'll try it a bit later and let you know.

I changed the configuration file to run in windowed mode and it ran fine. Cool game...simple and fun.

That's odd. I haven't had the opportunity to test the game on multiple computers, so I'm not sure what could be happening there. Was your video card compatible with the default settings (1024x768x32 fullscreen)? Dealing with technical issues with different hardware is something that I'm worried about (since I have no experience in this area, I'm afraid).

For my next game, I'll try to put in a small setup program that allows you to choose your settings. It just seemed a bit too much work to implement for this little mini-game.

Glad you like the game though!

Wow man, awesome game, it had me and my friends playing for at least 30 minutes during school. Congrats on such a simple and addicting game.

Oh, and I love the music, very catchy.

I love it. Simple but fun gameplay, with a nice cartoony feeling graphical style and catchy music. Congratulations on the contest result!

My video card is certainly compatible. I'm not sure what the problem was exactly, but a configuration utility is always handy, but understandably missing due to this being a smaller project. Great job with such a simple idea.

Thanks everyone! I'm quite pleased the game is so well received. I love cartoony styled games myself, so I'm happy there's lots of people out there who do too.

Thanks. I was pretty sure that I'd picked a generally compatible default, so I'm puzzled over what happened there. Admittedly I haven't figured out all the intricacies in setting up SDL and OpenGL yet, so it's possible there's still a few bugs there. If anyone else is experiencing a similar problem, I'd like to hear from you so that I know it's something I should look at closer.

Hopefully in my next game I'll have that config. util. coded up so it won't be as big a problem for you (of course, I'll have to figure out how to write one, but that's part of the fun!).

Wow, it runs on my brother's config.: PIII 500 with 3Dfx Voodoo 2! Of course I had to resize textures and change the configuration :D.

Heh, the textures were a little large, weren't they? I'll have to play around with that in my next 2D game when I have a little more time to deal with development. Nice to know that the game works okay on a PIII though!

Great game. It runs fine on my machine (P4 w/ Radeon ~9600). It seems to have become a lot easier since the alpha release though - more fishies? My high score on this release is almost double my high score on the alpha version (902 compared to 480) and it only took three tries to get it. BTW, somebody else should post some high scores.

Yes; I think there's a subtle bug in the randomised object placement code. I've been playing around with the code a bit and there's a few stupid errors in there. I'll slowly clean that bit up and post a final version soon (once I get a chance to playtest it for a bit). I don't want to make the game too hard though, as not everyone has uber-fish dodging skills.

Oh, and I'm glad you enjoyed the game! Thanks for trying it out!

Sweet little game!!! Congratulations. Very addictive! The whole thing has a very, comment dirais-je, "français" feel to it!

Very nice work. Simple and addicting. You could have a job writing software for the Nintendo Revolution with that one-button gameplay, haha.

I've managed to get up to 1011, although I normally seem to get scores of ~500ish.
