About: This is my vision of a 3D Asteroids Space Shooter. Personally, I kind of like blowing things up, and I especially like space shooters, so this game is great fun for me. =)

How to Play

I'll describe how to play based upon my Saitek Rumble Force dual-stick gamepad. Asteroids 3D is a true 3D space shooter, and you really need a dual-stick controller for the best experience. My LogiTech Dual Action gamepad also works great. I can play the game using a Microsoft Sidewinder using the Rudder control as the 2nd stick, but its simply not as fun that way for me.

Anyway, the first thing you will want to do when you start the game is to hit F1 and configure your gamepad. The FIRE button is quite important, as well as the orientation of the Y Axis.

You fly around by using the Left stick for orientation (X and Y Axes), and the Right stick for moving forward and backward (Z Axis). The Right stick can also be used for Rolling (If your gamepad supports the 'R' Axis), though that's not necessary to play the game.

You play the game inside of a giant green cube: The Asteroid Pen. Trapped inside the pen with you are 6 different colors of Asteroids, each of which have a chance to drop a corresponding type of Powerup: Red (Ammo), Blue (Shields), Green (Health), Purple (Vitality), Yellow (Level Tokens). The 6th type of Asteroid is Black and will randomly drop any of the other types of powerups.

So, you fly around, shoot at the asteroids, retrieve powerups, try to progress in levels by collecting the Yellow Powerups, and most importantly, try to stay alive. Note: You may encounter certain objects and entities that won't have your best interests at heart.

For those without a dual-stick gamepad, I've added keyboard controls as follows:

The 4 Arrow Keys determine orientation, UP DOWN LEFT or RIGHT.
Use the 'D' Key for Reverse and the 'F' key for Forward.
Fire with the Space Bar.
F5 Changes View.
F6 Cycles Weapon Forward.
F7 Cycles Weapon Reverse.
