For 2D vector graphics you could use an industrial standard like OpenVG (www.khronos.org for details).
Check out Amanithvg ( http://www.amanithvg.com ) for an accelerated implementation based on OpenGL and OpenGL|ES.

After 1 year development of Amanith, we have built this first technology preview in 4 months, thanks to our matured experience in vector graphics field :)
