Another thought may be to try using Inkscape (also $0). It's a vector graphics program - so you can trace around the drawn lines very easily. If you're used to painting, vector graphics can take a little getting used to, but it's probably a good way... |

It's not bad, but it's not brilliant either. Without knowing more about what the logo is for, it's hard to judge how well it fits the purpose.
