Deferred Shading and Depth Reconstruction Sadly, it seems like a lot of the threads on this are old, so I opted to open a new topic about it. I'm working on deferred rendering currently, and I wanted to be able to use the trick to get position from the depth value. I had this wor...

Rotating Billboard Sprites I'm working on (once again) implementing a particle system into my engine, but am having difficulty trying to rotate the sprites. Currently, I'm using a GPU method of offsetting the vertex positions. I have an array of particles with a positio...

Transformation Matrix I'm working on a water effect pixel shader, but I'm make it so that it is less refracted depending on the depth of the water (so water at the shore doesn't refract much so that the image lines up with the true render of the scene). The pro...

Direct3D (ERROR) in output window (SOLVED) I am having a strange issue pop up in my code, but I have no idea what it means. In the output window in the MSVC IDE, when I am closing down my application, I keep getting lines like this: Direct3D9: (ERROR) : [0] : Address 04CED4CB Direct...

CW/CCW ordering of points in a polygon (SOLVED) If I have a set of points that I know make up a polygon, how can I sort them into CW/CCW order? My case is that I have a set of points from a 3D editor, I know they represent a single polygon (all lay on the same plane), but the order of the po...

User Defined Clip Planes I have another thread on the Graphics forum, but I wanted to find out specifically about how user defined clip planes work in Direct3D (not just clipping mirrors in particular, which is what my other thread is about). This is all in clip spac...

Wunderwerk Engine - Backyard Demo There seems to be an issue with the texture switching, nothing is getting the right texture assigned to it, especially the dynamic objects (barrels and crates). They randomly switch to different textures as I move around.

GDNet at the Movies: So, just how bad was Watchmen? They also didn't explain his mask in the movie, but did in the comic, which I kind of found interesting. It's not exactly a necessary part of the comic, but without at least a brief explanation, it does make it seem odd. Overall I liked the movie...

Until Oluseyi makes a Batman thread... My only complaint is what they did with Dent, I really wish they could make him the Villain in the third one (though, as with all comic-dom, it is still possible). Great movie, seriously, it easily takes place as one of my all time fa...

Alcoholic drinks Sorry, I was typing quickly and missed an N, but have you ever tried an Irish Car Bomb? The only thing that can make a Guinness better is more Irish! :D

Alcoholic drinks You can always try bombs, Irish Car Bombs are quite nice. It's a half glass of Guiness and a shot of equal parts Irish Whiskey and Baileys Irish Cream, it has a bit of a chocolate milk flavor to it, but you have to down it after you drop the shot....
