About:
My first ever game. Based vaguely on the Acorn game Supersnail. Definitely a work in progress (only, not so much of the "progress" any more).

Posted - 10/27/2007 7:40:46 PM | I got bored tonight and randomly updated the download.
Hopefully it shouldn't now ask for strange DLL's (though I haven't had a chance to test this).
The menu doesn't look as good, but I put a few more tiles into the level for the sake of it.
Oh, and it leaks memory like a really, really leaky seive! I couldn't be bothered to track the problems down... Just something you should be aware of.
Source code is now included. It's probably pretty horrendous, but if anyone wants to use it for anything (like printing off, shredding, and lining chicken nest-boxes) they can.
P.S. TheKrust: the save function isn't real. 'tis just a placeholder in the menu. XD

Finish your project and be proud of what you've accomplished. And as a courtesy to those people that are willing to test your game(s), you should at least make an effort to fix any known memory leaks. Have you ever heard of Steven Wright (I'm a big fan)? You totally remind me of him.
EDIT: I just realized that my post sounds kind of mean, but that wasn't my intention. I wouldn't waste time posting here if I wasn't willing to try out your game and give you some feedback (which is the whole point of the showcase), so I will check back and see if you've put any time into fixing some of those memory leaks. And if so, I'll check your game out for sure. :-)

Posted - 11/18/2007 6:25:43 PM | Heh, I'm just a depressing person. :)
The memory leaks seem to be the tip of an iceberg, in that attempting to solve them causes problems elsewhere, and I can't find out why these are happening at all.
I did rewrite the project entirely (though I didn't get as far as this) with much neater code, but have lost it, otherwise I'd have updated with that instead. :(
I mainly put this here so that if I do ever get a project to a more finished state I can post that here too, and other people and I can compare it with this one as an early (failed) attempt at a game. I should have made this clearer, and it's possible this is the wrong idea for use of the GDShowcase, in which case I apologise.
