About:
The original early-70's era text game "Hunt The Wumpus" converted from BASIC to C and compiled for Windows. Only 30k and every bit as pointless as it was 30 years ago.

I have to admit, John, that I am not a big fan. I am somewhat pleased to add the word "Wumpus" to my vocabulary though! It may be a boon to your project to add a graphical interface so that I can determine what a wumpus looks like.
Dear God almighty, I didn't think anyone else ever had a Texas Instruments. I used to love Hunt the Wumpus, the tension as you fire in a direction and you get that slow arrow traversing the screen and the "boop, boop, boop". I used to get well scared especially when I missed. Shit man thanks for bringing back some fond memories. I'm gonna google for some nostalgiac info.
First a note. I didn't write the original game. This was basically (no pun intended) a test for an old BASIC-C convertor I found. If you hate the game, don't come cryin' to me.
FWIW, I think the most deluxe version of "Hunt The Wumpus" ever was on the TI 99/4A personal computer. It had graphics and everything. There's a remake of the TI version in Java here, but it doesn't seem to work on my machine.
The only canonical picture of a Wumpus appeared in an old Creative Computing Magazine, circa 1971. I've got a reprint of the game in an old "Best of Creative Computing" somewhere. If I find it, I'll post a scan.
