About:
Have you ever argued with someone over IRC? Well, now you can settle the dispute with a quick gun duel. Showdown IRC is a basic IRC client with an extra command for settling disputes.
How to Play
The best bet for finding another user is to connect to AfterNET and join the #showdown channel. I try to sit in that channel as much as possible to give people a target to try out the game.
The program is a basic IRC chat client with an extra command: /challenge <usernick>. By "/challenge"ing people, you connect to each other to duel in an old western style.
Before you challenge an opponent, ensure that port 1337 is available on your system (i.e. open it in your firewall/router). The challenger plays the role of the "server" during actual dueling, and the challengy connects to the challenger using port 1337.
Drag the mouse down until the meter fills to the bottom, and continue to drag the mouse up to fill the meter to the top. You control the velocity of the mouse (not the position) to try and shoot your opponent.
When you run out of bullets, right click to reholster the weapon and middle click to reload.
The control scheme is specifically designed to prevent players firing a stream of 50 bullets directly at their opponent's head half a second after the game loads.
